Gaia-X Summit 2023: COOPERANTS in Alicante

Pierre Gronlier, CTO von Gaia-X, und Roland Fadrany, COO von Gaia-X, präsentierten eben solche Best-Practice-Beispiele wie COOPERANTS auf der Bühne
  • deltaDAO supports the Gaia-X lighthouse projects COOPERANTS as well as EuProGigant and Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility (and several more) as an experienced data ecosystem provider
  • COOPERANTS served as one of the best practice examples in terms of compliance with Gaia-X Policy and Conformity Rules, the use of Gaia-X Digital Clearing Houses and the “Gaia-X Federated Catalogue”

Alicante (Spain), 9-10 November 2023: On 9 and 10 November, the fourth Gaia-X Summit took place, organised by Gaia-X AISBL in cooperation with the Gaia-X Hub Spain in Alicante. The aim was to strengthen Europe’s position in the global competition for digitalisation. An ambitious strategy was defined to present key EU milestones and targets for Gaia-X data at the summit.

Catherine Jestin (Airbus) was elected in advance by 377 international members from industry and business as the new Chair of the Board of Gaia-X ASIBL. Ulrich Ahle was appointed as the new CEO of Gaia-X AISBL and will now focus on the implementation of the internationalisation and growth strategy in the market launch phase of Gaia-X.

Another significant step forward is the harmonisation and strategic alignment of current major European initiatives such as Gaia-X, the International Data Space Association (IDSA), the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) and the FIWARE Foundation. These initiatives work together at different levels to create a common strategy for the European data economy.

The collaboration between these major European initiatives and country-specific hubs such as the Gaia-X Hub Germany and the European Commission’s newly established Data Space Support Centre (DSSC) has created a broad support portfolio for European companies and initiatives.

Gaia-X Digital Clearing Houses have been set up to ensure trust. These serve to ensure trustworthy compliance with jointly defined rules in the data space (Gaia-X Compliance) and are now available as the first services for European companies to implement initial commercial use cases.

During the Gaia-X Summit 2023, the audience had the opportunity to inspect digital service catalogues of the leading Gaia-X projects using the Gaia-X Policy and Conformance Rules and the Gaia-X Federated Catalogue, the Credential Event Service (CES). Not everyone is able to publish on the CES, as this requires conformity with the rules and semantics of the community, so there is a public, transparent quality check. The lighthouse project COOPERANTS has been at the forefront of this and has recently made great progress, both internally and through collaborations with deltaDAO AG and OVHcloud, another announced candidate for the Gaia-X Digital Clearing Houses.

Pierre Gronlier, CTO of Gaia-X, and Roland Fadrany, COO of Gaia-X, presented such best practice examples as COOPERANTS on a large stage and praised the progress made during their presentation “Gaia-X Catalogues Up & Running – from PaaS to Data Space as a Service”.
