- COOPERANTS visited the Space Congress and was able to use the event to hold stimulating discussions
- Great interest in the Gaia-X lighthouse project COOPERANTS in the New Space Sector
Berlin, 18 October 2023: Under the theme of “New Space”, the Space Congress took place in Berlin on 18 October 2023 and attracted space stakeholders from business, research and politics. The term “New Space” describes the commercialisation of space travel and its increasing integration with the non-space economy. As a high-tech sector, space travel, and therefore also “New Space”, is a driving force behind the digitalisation and sustainability of the industry. Siegfried Russwurm, President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), emphasised the urgency of a resilient and digitalised space industry with regard to industry-specific developments in China and the USA. He explains that anyone who is not present in space will fall behind and have poor chances in a globalised market in the future.
This is precisely where the Gaia-X lighthouse project COOPERANTS comes in and represents an important future player in a European, digital and sovereign marketplace that makes secure, trustworthy products and services based on Gaia-X standards available for successful digital collaboration in the aerospace industry.
Various stakeholders from industry, research and politics discussed the following topics, among others, in diverse panels: German and European resilience of the space industry, international cooperation, public and private investment in the New Space Sector, colonisation of space and many other downstream and upstream topics.
The event shows once again what an important role digitalisation will play in the future development of the industry and that the New Space segment offers many opportunities to learn from each other.
