COOPERANTS ist offizieller Gaia-X Lighthouse Data Space

Visual - COOPERANTS becomes Lighthouse Dataspace

Bremen, June 2025 – The COOPERANTS project has been officially recognized by the Gaia-X Association as a Lighthouse Data Space. This distinction places COOPERANTS among a select group of Lighthouse projects that make a significant contribution to the realization of a trustworthy, sovereign, and interoperable European data infrastructure.

The recognition underscores the pioneering role COOPERANTS plays in the digitalization and data networking of the European aerospace industry. At the core of the project is the creation of a Gaia-X-compliant data space, including a marketplace where intelligent services can be offered and acquired by all market participants. This enables companies—especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)—to exchange data securely and controllably, develop new digital services, and jointly unlock value creation potential.

“With the recognition as a Gaia-X Lighthouse Data Space, our work is not only acknowledged but also made visible across Europe,” said consortium lead Dr. Caroline Lange.
“This is a strong signal to the aerospace sector that cooperative data spaces and integrated marketplaces for intelligent services represent a sustainable model for greater efficiency, innovation, and sovereignty in collaboration and data exchange.”

The COOPERANTS consortium now includes more than 15 partners from industry, research, and the public sector—ranging from established aerospace companies, from small enterprises to large system integrators (LSIs), to highly specialized software providers and application-oriented research institutions. With this recognition as a Gaia-X Lighthouse Data Space, COOPERANTS will be in the public eye in the coming months and actively contribute to the further development of the Gaia-X ecosystem—especially in the aerospace sector.
