- Caroline Lange (DLR) presents a global lecture on COOPERANTS
- At the poster exhibition, Dr Alexander Viehl (FZI) and Jan Novacek (FZI) will give a poster presentation on the topics “Semantic Search” and “Semantic Annotation”
Stuttgart, 19-21 September: The Baden-Württemberg State Reception for the Deutscher Luft- und Raumfahrtkongress took place on 19 September at the Haus der Wirtschaft in Stuttgart. Dr Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism, opened the event, which brought together high-ranking representatives from science, business and politics to emphasise the importance of the aerospace industry for the region. Hoffmeister-Kraut emphasised the interplay between research infrastructure and the industrial base as well as the support for the industry provided by the state’s recently launched aerospace strategy. The Deutscher Luft- und Raumfahrtkongress, which is being held in Stuttgart again after ten years, provides a platform for experts to discuss current developments and innovations in the industry.
Dr Caroline Lange took the opportunity to give a global presentation on the Gaia-X lighthouse project COOPERANTS. A lot of positive feedback and questions about the content showed great interest in COOPERANTS and led to a lively discussion. The questions asked included areas such as the Gaia-X initiative as well as pioneering operator and business models. Afterwards, Dr Caroline Lange summed up her impressions of this year’s DLRK. “Digital transformation is key to the success of the space industry as well as the transition to greater sustainability! The synergy between digitalisation and sustainability is just as important. The digital transformation of the industry enables greater sustainability by increasing efficiency. Conversely, the drive for greater sustainability requires more efficient work: the result of a digitalised aerospace industry.”
The presentation of the poster on “Semantic Search” and “Semantic Annotation”, which took place under the direction of Dr Alexander Viehl (FZI) and Jan Novacek (FZI), was equally successful. A lot of feedback in the form of questions and positive comments confirmed the great interest in the Gaia-X lighthouse project. In addition, to subject-specific topics, other issues such as Gaia-X, cybersecurity, licence law, the use of language models and the networking of services were also discussed. The fact that a search service for engineering data would be useful was met with approval, as was the provision of such a service for small and medium-sized companies. There was also interest in the implementation of the search service, the current status of development, the time of usability and whether the results will be published and further developed in the form of open source projects.
In conclusion, the feedback at DLRK 2023 was very valuable and confirms the urgency of digitalising the aerospace industry through COOPERANTS.
