- Global presentation by André Seidel on the topic of COOPERANTS, including more detailed explanations of the smart service “Agile Manufacturing Support”
- Location-specific developments in the federal state of Saxony were presented on a large scale
In close cooperation with the Kompetenzzentrum luft- und Raumfahrttechnik Sachsen/Thüringen e.V., Saxony Trade & Invest Corp. (WFS), Technische Universität Dresden and the Sächsisches Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft, Arbeit und Verkehr hosted the Saxon Aerospace Day at the Saxony Transport Museum on 18 October 2023.
The event attracted representatives from various areas such as state politics, science and industry from all parts of Germany. A large number of outstanding lectures and presentations on current research were offered, providing companies with a comprehensive insight into aerospace activities in Saxony. Highlights included location-specific developments such as the establishment of the OEM Deutsche Aircraft in Saxony, Leipzig with the construction of the Do328neo, the start of a project to build a large production plant for environmentally friendly hydrogen at Leipzig Airport, the continuation of the construction of the Do228 in Saxony and the development of low-cost small satellites and their transport into an orbit of only 250 km using so-called micro-launchers.
The local consortium partner of the Gaia-X lighthouse project COOPERANTS, Fraunhofer IWU, provided a project-related highlight with its global presentation on COOPERANTS. André Seidel (Fraunhofer IWU) also took the opportunity to delve deeper into his area of work in the project and presented the “Agile Manufacturing Support” smart service. This smart service is intended to enable better collaboration between engineering and production, which uses a real-time exchange of production and process information between the parties involved as the basis for realisation. In addition, the valuable process data is also stored anonymously in a cloud and is to be made available to third-party users for their own manufacturing processes. In contrast to existing software solutions, which have to be purchased via a licence model, installed locally and operated by experts, the future application will run in the cloud as so-called “Advanced Smart Services”.
In the accompanying exhibition, André Seidel and Uwe Teicher (Fraunhofer IWU) took the opportunity to talk to many interested parties about COOPERANTS and local aerospace activities. The Gaia-X lighthouse project offered a far-reaching insight into the future of a digitalised aerospace industry, which the COOPERANTS consortium is constantly working on.
